For the trade

I learned the diamond trade on the polishing wheel.

At Jewelpreneurs we cut natural and laboratory-grown diamonds and make fine jewellery for brands, retailers and exporters. I trained in a factory that cut Hearts and Cupids, where the job was to look for faults in a stone before anything else. I still check stones that way before they ship.

Checked under the scope

A Hearts and Cupids stone has to show eight even hearts under the viewer. If it doesn't, it goes back to the wheel. Grading to that standard trained my eye for faults most buyers miss, such as a facet that doesn't meet its neighbours cleanly or a wavy girdle.

I start with your specification for colour, clarity and size tolerance, then run the standard checks for cut. If a stone is borderline, I tell you before it ships.

Loose stones, sorted to your tolerance

We cut fancy shapes, calibrated melee and matched pairs in natural and laboratory-grown diamond. Melee has to look even once it is set, so we sort every parcel by size, colour and make. We can arrange GIA, IGI or HRD reports on request. We buy emeralds, rubies, sapphires and other coloured stones from suppliers we have worked with before, then size them and match them to your layout.

Jewellery made to your design

We make rings, earrings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, bangles, brooches and watches, from a single piece to a full production run, and we take on high jewellery commissions. Each design is modelled in CAD and printed as a prototype, so you can check the proportions and ask for changes before any metal is used. Nothing goes for casting until you approve it. After casting we set and polish the piece, arrange BIS hallmarking where it applies, and ship it insured with the export papers.

About

Richard Morakhiya

Founder and CEO, or Chief Everything Officer on most days

I came into the diamond business in 2021 as an apprentice in a factory owned by a friend of my father's. I began on the polishing wheel, moved to quality control at the microscope, then learned rough planning on the Sarin machine and graded Hearts and Cupids stones before going into sales. I have been to New York's 47th Street, and I helped my former employer set up a factory in the Sachin SEZ in Surat. I founded Jewelpreneurs so that one company could handle the whole chain, from rough diamond to finished jewellery.

We are recognised by Startup India and iCreate (Gujarat) and verified on Dun & Bradstreet.
